Winner of the 2008 Skål International Eco-Tourism Award!

A proud moment for us here at Northern Soul. On October 13, 2008, Northern Soul was awarded the prestigious Skål International Eco Tourism Award at the 79th Skål World Congress in Taipei Taiwan in the category of Tour Operator and Travel Agent.

Skål, founded as an international association in 1934 is the largest organisation of travel and tourism professionals in the world, embracing all sectors of the travel and tourism industry, in five Continents, 90 Countries and at over 500 locations, with 20,000 members from hoteliers to travel agents, Airlines, tourism media, tourism academies etc.

Sustainable Tourism Award

The Manitoba Tourism Awards is an annual program recognizing excellence in the promotion and delivery of tourism experiences in Manitoba. Award winners and finalists are selected by a panel of Manitoba industry representatives. This program is administered by Travel Manitoba. Northern Soul was recently honoured at the Travel Manitoba Awards Banquet. On February 8, 2007, at a gala banquet in Winnipeg, Manitoba we proudly accepted this important award from Travel Manitoba. We are thrilled to be recognised for our commitment to sustainable practices and social responsibility in the communities we live and travel through.

After witnessing first-hand the conservation work Northern Soul has done along the Seine River, Bloodvein First Nations and with the Manitoba Eco Network. The members of Tourisme Riel decided to nominate Northern Soul for the Sustainable Tourism Award.

Tourisme Riel is a private, not-for-profit organization whose mandate is to undertake and foster Francophone economic, community and tourism development initiatives in the City of Winnipeg’s Riel District (Saint-Boniface, Saint-Norbert, Saint-Vital) in Manitoba, Canada.
